Den Blå Planet (The blue planet)

Novemeber 2024

When my mom asked me if I wanted to go to this aquarium with my niece and nephew I didn’t hesitate.I didn’t know this place existed until she asked m. I didn’t know that I was just a bridge away from seeing hammerhead sharks, cownose rays and Sea otters which are much bigger than I thought. My niece and nephew are both six and they believe it or not have the attention span of a 6-year-old but this trip was really interactive and informative to them I was really happy to be a part of this experience with them since I am passionate about showing the younger generation marine life and that it’s not all that scary.

It opens at around 10:00 a.m and is located near the bridge between Denmark and Sweden. We were there right when they opened and the only thing I knew was that they had stingrays and I wanted to see them in real life because they’re my favorite marine animal apart from the whale shark. I didn’t know that they had hammerhead sharks. I didn’t know either that they had a whole tropical section with sloths and butterflies, you could touch. It was like walking in a jungle. A very humid jungle nonetheless but it was really unique experience. I want to experience that one day, walking in a jungle not artificially made not made for us to see but creatures living in peace instead of some man-made place for them to be looked at every day. Nonetheless zoos and Aquariums are very beneficial for reproduction and introduction programs and I’m not going to say anything negative about them. I have nothing negative to say about the Blue Planet because it was an experience in itself just to walk through those doors and see all of the stuffed animals of rays and fish and otters. They even have the Georgia Aquarium tracker bracelets and I got one for Christmas that tracks a whale shark, his name is Chuck. There are around five sections to the Blue Planet but my two favorite was the tropical one with the sloths and the giant Aquarium with the hammerheads they had a tunnel you can walk through and you can see the cownose rays and all of the fish swimming over and under you. The perfect Pinterest picture. They even had an open aquarium area with small stingrays that they had interactive event  where you could feed them yourself. They had everything from piranhas to otters and Information boards on all of the walls with what type of reptiles and what type of marine animals found in different eras of time from thousands of years ago.

Highly recommend this aquarium for anyone interested in marine life or just wants pretty pictures of the different animals or want to teach their children that it’s really beautiful to be alive in this world with all these different animals. it’s also a rare chance to see a hammerhead shark and leopard rays and cownose rays.
